Sindh announces four-day Eidul Azha holidays

The Sindh government on Friday announced four public holidays in view of Eidul Azha next week.

According to the notification, the public holidays will be observed across the province from May 26 to 29, with Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday declared as public holidays.

“The Government of Sindh hereby declares 26, 27, 28 and 29 May 2026 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) as public holidays on the occasion of Eidul Azha (09 to 12 Zil Hajj-1447 AH) throughout the province of Sindh,” a notification said.

He added that the public holidays would apply to all government, semi-government and municipal institutions in the province. However, essential service employees, as well as staff engaged in budget preparation, would remain exempt from the public holiday schedule.

The Ruet-e-Hilal Central Committee had earlier announced that the moon of Zilhajj 1447 AH was observed in the country, adding that Eidul Azha would be observed on May 27.

Following the announcement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved a three-day public holiday on the occasion of Eidul Azha from May 26 to 28 (Tuesday to Thursday).
