Sol Ruca rode a wave of massive success to become the new women’s intercontinental champion on Sunday at The Clash in Italy by defeating Becky Lynch.
It was a rematch of their brief bout on Saturday Night’s Main Event. Lynch pushed referee Jessica Carr in front of her as Ruca landed a Sol Snatcher. Carr called for a disqualification on Lynch, giving Ruca the victory. But it didn’t produce what either of them had hoped for. Ruca didn’t prove himself enough in the eyes of “The Man” while Lynch hoped to move on from the rising star.

SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis booked a rematch with the Women’s Intercontinental Championship on the line. Ruca stepped in and delivered a great performance.
Lynch tried to get inside Ruca’s head as much as she could. Trash talking, pushing Carr into the ropes to knock Ruca down, and even attempting a Sol Snatcher herself weren’t enough to slow Ruca down.

At the end of the match, Ruca hit a Sol Snatcher out of nowhere to crush Lynch and end her reign as Women’s Intercontinental Champion.
This was Ruca’s first major victory since joining the main team. She defeated Bayley on Saturday Night’s Main Event in December when John Cena specifically chose her to appear on the card. She has been one of NXT’s top prospects and has now made a major impact on the WWE roster.
