- Network leader Jan Meer alias Toor Saqib neutralized in KP IBO: ISPR.
- Says forces destroyed underground tunnels and bunkers during IBO.
- Adds weapons, ammo also collected from killed terrorists.
Security forces killed 23 Indian-sponsored terrorists, including a leader, during intelligence-based operations (IBO) carried out in different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the Army’s media affairs wing said on Thursday.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that in the last 48 hours, security forces carried out a series of IBOs in KP areas – Datta Khel, Spinwam and Bannu and killed 23 Fitna al-Khwarij terrorists, including network leader Jan Meer alias Toor Saqib.
“In the last 48 hours, during the conduct of this series of operations, troops have effectively engaged several locations in Khawarij,” the ISPR said, adding that 23 more terrorists belonging to Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Khawarij were eliminated following intense and fierce exchange of fire.
Army media said the network’s leader, Jan Meer alias Toor Saqib, was highly wanted by the security forces and the government had fixed a sum of money on him for his active involvement in numerous terrorist activities, including the killing of security forces personnel and innocent civilians.
The death of the network leader will be “a hard blow to the khawarij networks operating in these areas,” he adds.
The army added that during the disinfection operations, a series of complex underground tunnels and bunkers used by terrorists were also discovered and destroyed by security forces.
“Weapons, ammunition, a large cache of explosives and prepared improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were also recovered from slain Indian-sponsored Khawarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the region,” the press release added.
“Disinfection operations continue to eliminate the entrenched khawarij from these areas, while the relentless anti-terrorism campaign carried out under the ‘Azm-e-Istehkam’ vision (as approved by the Supreme Federal Committee on National Action Plan) by the security forces and law enforcement agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to eliminate the menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” the Army said.
