Blood of Dawnwalker might not exist without the experienced Rebel Wolves developers who worked on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt And Cyberpunk 2077.
That’s according to game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who told TechRadar Gaming during a hands-on preview event that without the experience former CD Projekt Red developers gained in these role-playing games (RPGs), “it wouldn’t be possible to make a game like this.”
“A game with so many complex choices and consequences, with so many unique mechanics. We build on what we’ve learned and what we’ve co-created in the past,” Tomaszkiewicz said.
The Witcher 3 And Cyberpunk 2077 launched with significant performance issues. They were so bad with Cyberpunk 2077 in fact, the game was temporarily removed from the PlayStation Store. Both games eventually received major improvements and are now considered two of the best RPGs of all time.
To avoid similar problems with Blood of Dawnwalkerthe director revealed that the team prioritized optimization from the start of development.
“We learned how to approach game optimization,” he said. “When we started working Blood of the Dawnwalkerwe already had people working on optimizing our game all the time, right from the start.
“We didn’t want to find ourselves in a situation where we ship a great game, but there are issues when we release it on consoles or performance issues.”
Blood of Dawnwalker will launch on September 3 on PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and PC.
