- A new PS portal update will be published today with new features aimed at improving the user experience
- Players will be able to capture gameplay during cloud streaming and sort their games
- A new queue function has been added when a streaming server is full, among other features
A new update to the PlayStation portal is coming today, bringing a ton of new features aimed at improving the user experience while using the beta couples game streaming.
As detailed in a new PlayStation blog article, the first new feature that players can expect a sorting function on the catalog screen, allowing users to sort games by recently added to PS Plus (by default), the name and the release date.
The new most exciting feature of the update is probably the possibility of capturing gameplay during cloud streaming.
By pressing the Create button once, the Create menu will be displayed; Press and the hold will take a screenshot, and press twice will start or finish saving a video clip.
Like PlayStation 5, captured images and videos will be automatically downloaded from the cloud server and can then be accessible via the PlayStation application. It should be noted that “the captures will be stored for 14 days after their creation”.
Another improvement allows players to queue when a streaming server is full. An estimated waiting time will be displayed on the screen, and when a spot opens, the game session starts automatically.
The gameplay will also stop depending on the situation, including when the reader opens the quick PS gate menu, when pressing the power button once to enter the rest mode, or if a system error message is displayed.
Finally, users will receive a system notification when their streaming session is about to end due to inactivity of more than 10 minutes, and a user feedback screen was added at the end of the sessions to assess the quality of the experience.
The new PS portal update should be deployed today, but Techradar Gaming has found that a download of 92.26 MB is currently available for download at 12 hours BST today.
Sony added that since the Streaming Cloud (beta) is always an experimental offer, “the available features during the beta period can change over time and may not reflect the final experience”.
