The Testaments season 2: key information
– Season 2 was renewed before the season 1 finale
– No release or plot details have been confirmed at the time of writing
– Should continue to adapt the novel by Margaret Atwood
– The main cast is also expected to return
What if I said that I preferred The Wills has The Handmaid’s Tale? So what? Frankly, there’s no better time to have this opinion, since Season 2 has already been renewed by Hulu and Disney+.
The news came a week before the explosive season 1 finale, which saw Becka (Mattea Conforti) marry Garth (Brad Alexander) in order to save her reputation, Agnes’ (Chase Infiniti) engagement being broken off for being too close to the murder of Dr. Grove (Randal Edwards), and Daisy (Lucy Halliday) breaking back into Gilead to help save Becka’s life.
In a heartbreaking scene, we saw Becka get emotionally married while her mother was framed for her father’s murder, with episode 9 revealing that Becka was actually the one behind it. There is also romantic tension between Becka and Agnes, with the two sharing a kiss before the ceremony.
If you’ve read the original novel by Margaret Atwood, you’ll know that we’re only part of the way to adapting it. So what can we expect from The Wills season 2?
Testaments Season 2 Release Date Window Predictions
Look on it
At the moment, release date predictions for season 2 are unclear. Production hasn’t even started yet and we don’t know when that might change.
Based on this, we can assume that we will see new episodes around mid-2027 at the earliest, but my intuition tells me that we could wait until 2028.
Testaments season 2 trailer: is there one?
Not yet, and that won’t change for a while. It took us until early March 2026 to get one for Season 1, so expect the first full trailer to arrive around four weeks before the second season.

Testaments Season 2 Plot Predictions
Potential spoilers for The Wills season 2 coming soon.
If you’ve read the original novel, you’ll know that Aunt Lydia’s eventual betrayal of Gilead will likely be explored in more detail in The Wills season 2. We’ve already seen things start to come together as she helps save Becka and aligns herself with Daisy and Agnes.
June’s youngest daughter is originally Daisy in the novel, but in the television series, Daisy is a completely separate character. It remains to be seen if this issue will be resolved or if June’s other daughter will be revealed as someone else.
While the plot is likely to differ from what’s contained in the book, we can expect the aunts to divulge incriminating information about Gilead’s elite in Canada, and more of Mayday’s agents to be revealed as the season progresses.
Will there be more Testaments seasons?
At the time of writing, it’s hard to say – but depending on what Season 2 includes, there could still be more possibilities for adaptation in Season 3 and beyond. The Handmaid’s Tale used Atwood’s novel as a launching pad to expand over six seasons, so creative license is likely.
“I always have to think about this in eternal terms, because you never know if you’re going to get renewed,” creator Bruce Miller told TechRadar. “Previously, they would pull your card in the middle of the day, when you were in episode 4 of season 2, and then you had nothing left. We were very, very generously given a lot of space and time to think about our endings.
“I tried very hard to think about the characters and their stories in a much more general way. What do they do on a daily basis? How do they live? How do they figure things out? So season 1 is really about Agnes’ awakening, and in the end, that’s just the beginning.
“Every ending in Margaret’s world is always a great beginning,” Miller continues. “So I guess I don’t think in terms of number of seasons. But if you think about a 14/15 year old girl waking up and waking up and doing things, those things can go on for quite a while.
“There are many stories to tell based on the world of Agnes, Daisy and Aunt Lydia and the challenges they face.”
Executive producer Warren Littlefield adds: “If you study Margaret’s novels and are a fan of The Handmaid’s Taleand then you enter WillsBy the end of the season, Agnès will catch up with what you may know as a reader and follower of our show.
“Agnès becomes aware of her roots and where she came from. I think that leads us to a wonderful opening about what’s next for her.”
