Travis Kelce’s inner circle has hinted that his upcoming NFL campaign could mark his final season on the field.
Nearly three weeks after tying the knot with pop superstar Taylor Swift in a star-studded ceremony at New York’s Madison Square Garden, longtime Kansas City Chiefs friend and mentor Cris Carter said the three-time Super Bowl champion is preparing for his final farewell ride.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, July 20, Carter shared a photo alongside Kelce and their shared practice squad, hinting at what’s to come.
“Andre [Spruill] and I started with Travis before his first year in the NFL,” Carter captioned the post, adding, “Know him [GOAT] prepares for THE LAST DANCE. Next stop Canton/HOF.”
The message strongly implied that the 36-year-old tight end was treating his upcoming 14th season as his final act before a guaranteed future spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The snapshot also provided fans with a sweet glimpse into Kelce’s new chapter off the court.
Sporting a black Bearcats T-shirt from his alma mater, the University of Cincinnati, paired with matching shorts and red and black Nike sneakers, the newlywed proudly showed off his brand new gold wedding ring as he put an arm around Carter’s shoulder.
The couple, both 36, officially cemented their high-profile romance on July 3 in front of a massive crowd of 1,000 guests.
Speculation surrounding Kelce’s possible retirement comes after he officially committed in March to return for his 14th season in the NFL following months of intense debate over his career path.
