A tragic explosion occurred in Jannat Shah area of Khar Tehsil, Bajaur, under the jurisdiction of Loi Sam police station, when an abandoned explosive device exploded, killing two people and leaving one seriously injured. Upon receipt of the report, rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the site. The victims were quickly rushed to Khar hospital.
According to Bajaur rescue officer Amjad Khan, the deceased were identified as Shamshad, 18, son of Wasal Khan, and Usman, 22, son of Niaz Ali. Qiyam, 25, son of injured Inayat Rahman, is in critical condition and receiving intensive medical care.
District Police Officer (DPO) Bajaur Waqas Rafiq confirmed the incident and said the police had launched a thorough investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the blast. He added that the police bomb squad regularly defused unexploded shells and explosives in the area to prevent such incidents. However, old munitions hidden in fields and residential areas continue to pose a serious risk to local residents.
Authorities urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious material to the nearest police station to avoid further casualties. The community has expressed shock and grief at the tragic loss of young lives in the area.
