USEFP clarifies global termination concerns

Islamabad:

In light of recent media reports and public concerns surrounding the Mondial First Cycle Exchange Program (UGGE) in Pakistan, the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) has published an official declaration to clarify the situation and reaffirm its continuous commitment in the event of educational cooperation between the United States and Pakistan.

According to USEFP, while the global UGRAD program undergoes changes, the United States remains determined to strengthen the links of people to the person with Pakistan thanks to continuous academic exchanges.

The organization stressed that the United States is currently hosting around 11,000 Pakistani students and continues to welcome more candidates for the search for higher education opportunities in American establishments.

To respond to concerns about the fate of current world participants, USEFP confirmed that the 54 Pakistani students who are currently studying in the United States as part of the program will end their academic exchanges as expected. “They have and will continue to receive their allowances and all the advantages associated with the program,” the statement said.

The Foundation also rejected rumors concerning the cessation of the prestigious Fulbright program, specifying that it remains fully operational and that all participants in Fulbright receive their financial support as planned. “The claims that the Fulbright program has been terminated or that students will have been blocked in the United States are false,” USEFP said.

The US State Department currently performs a global strategic examination of its exchange programs in order to better align them with the current administrative priorities. USEFP is committed to holding the informed public as new details emerge concerning the future of these initiatives.

Despite recent developments, several exchange opportunities funded by the US government, including the Fulbright program, remain available for Pakistani students and professionals.
