Video of woman shooting suspected stalker in Lahore is generated by AI

A video circulating on social media claims to show a young woman opening fire on a man who allegedly harassed her on a street in Lahore, forcing him to flee. The clip was widely shared as authentic CCTV footage, with users hailing the woman’s actions as an act of self-defense.

The statement is false. The video is not authentic and was generated using artificial intelligence (AI) tools.

The user captioned the video: “In Lahore, a brave girl immediately fired straight bullets at a young man who was harassing her on the road. She refused to be a victim and stood her ground. Self-defense is not a crime.”

The images carry a timestamp of 06/28/2026, giving the impression that they are real CCTV footage of a real incident.

At the time of writing, the post had been viewed over 70,800 times, received 456 likes and reposted 119 times.

No such incidents have been reported from Lahore. Independent verification by Geography Fact Checkalong with confirmation from Punjab Police and AI detection tools, indicate that the video was generated using artificial intelligence.

Mubashir Hussain, Director of Public Relations, Punjab Police, confirmed to Geography Fact Check via a message stating that the video was “created 100% by AI tools.”

Another police official, who requested anonymity as he was not authorized to speak publicly, also confirmed that the footage is not authentic and does not depict a real incident in Lahore.

“It is probably an AI-generated video. No such incident has been reported so far,” the officer said.

Geography Fact Check also analyzed the video using Hive Moderation, an AI content detection platform. The platform gave an overall score of 64%, indicating that the video is likely AI.

The clip was further examined using DeepFake-O-Meter, a detection platform developed by the Media Forensics Lab at the University at Buffalo. The platform rated the video as having a high probability of being AI-generated.

Verdict: The viral video does not show a real incident in Lahore. Punjab Police confirmed that no such incident had been reported and said the images were created using AI tools.
