Since May 21, 2026, several users, including Pakistani journalists, have been sharing a video on social media platforms X and YouTube, claiming that it shows rats roaming inside the Quetta Civil Hospital. However, the clip is from Gonda Medical College in Uttar Pradesh, India.

How it started

On May 21, Pakistani actor Asad Malik shared a video on X showing rats roaming inside a hospital with the caption: “Quetta Civil Hospital. This is the state of our government hospitals.”

The post has been viewed 63,000 times.

Methodology

A fact check was launched to determine the veracity of this claim due to its virality and strong public interest in the issue.

A reverse image search, conducted to trace the source of the images, yielded the same video shared by major Indian media outlets. Times of India on his Instagram account on January 16, 2026.

According to the caption, the video shows rats roaming freely in the orthopedics department of Gonda Medical College in Uttar Pradesh, India.

Another keyword search yielded the same video covered by several other Indian media outlets, such as Time now, Times of IndiaAnd Telegraph India on their websites.

According to reports, the video was shared by Congress on his X account on January 14, 2026.

According to the Time now report, the hospital administration took action after the video went viral, and an investigation was ordered. A special team was also formed to study how rodents were able to access the service and move through critical areas, including oxygen lines.

The research also resulted in a Facebook post from Jist, an Indian digital news and media platform, dated January 15, 2026. According to the caption, the viral clip was recorded by patients and raised concerns about hygiene and safety.
