Many users and journalists on social media platform However, the clip is old and dates from September 2025.

Pakistan played the role of mediator in the US-Israel war against Iran, successfully brokering a critical ceasefire between the warring parties on April 8, 2026. The South Asian country also hosted the first round of talks between Washington and Tehran on April 11-12, which were unsuccessful.

During this period, Pakistan has consistently called for peace at the UN Security Council while criticizing Israel’s aggressive actions in Gaza, Iran and Lebanon.

How it started

A day ago, a Turkish user on X shared a video showing Ambassador Ahmad speaking at the United Nations Security Council.

“The Pakistani Ambassador, showing Israel his place in the UN General Assembly, said the following: ‘Israel is an occupier and a bandit who plays the victim card, violates UN resolutions and practices state terrorism in Gaza and even on Palestinian lands,'” read the caption, which has garnered 499,100 views.

In the clip, the Pakistani envoy can be heard issuing harsh reprimands to his Israeli counterpart, highlighting Tel Aviv’s aggression in Gaza and other Palestinian territories.

The message did not mention the date of the session, or any other specific details about it.

American political commentator Jackson Hinke shared the video with the same caption. His post has been viewed 365,000 times and garnered 26,000 likes.

Shireen Mazari, the former human rights minister, also shared the same clip with the caption: “An excellent response from Pakistan, phrased without histrionics, in a logical, understated but powerful statement. Teaching the rogue entity Israel some lessons.”

His post garnered 32,400 views.

Journalist Matiullah Jan also shared the clip with the caption: “Israel’s Iron Dome didn’t see this coming from Pakistan. »

Her post has racked up 1.1 million views.

He said it was unacceptable for an aggressor and an occupying power to abuse the forum and make baseless allegations against others while diverting attention from its own actions, adding that such conduct undermines the sanctity of the Security Council UN security.”

Methodology

A fact check was launched to determine the veracity of this claim due to its high virality and keen public interest in the Middle East war and Pakistan’s key role in mediation efforts.

A keyword search to corroborate the incident yielded no recent news reports from major international or credible Pakistani media outlets.

Instead, a reverse image search yielded a YouTube video dated September 15, 2025, shared by Pakistan’s mission to the UN, titled: “Pakistan hits back: rejects Israel’s unrelated smears in Qatar debate.”

September 9, 2025, Israel target Hamas leaders in strikes on Qatari capital, murder five Hamas members and a Qatari security agent. The attack sparked a broad international reaction convictionnotably from the Gulf monarchies allied with the United States, Israel’s main donor.

A comparison of the YouTube video and the viral clip revealed that the latter shows the first 5 minutes 37 seconds of the original speech.

In his speech, at 5:52, the Pakistani ambassador interprets the UN Security Council resolution as “Security Council members express condemnation of the recent strike on Doha, territory of a key mediator, on September 9”, and at no point mentions the US-Israeli war against Iran, showing that the session has no relevance to the current crisis in the Middle East.

During the meeting, Israeli Ambassador Danny Danon invoked the assassination of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan to justify Israel’s actions in Doha, prompting a response from the Pakistani envoy, who called the comparison “unacceptable” and accused Tel Aviv of diverting attention from its own violations of international law.

The same UNSC session was also covered by Dawn And Capital Television on their YouTube channels in September 2025, in the context of the Qatar attacks.

Additionally, a keyword search yielded a news report by Dawn » dated September 12, 2025, with the headline: “Pakistan and Israel exchange barbs at UN Security Council following Doha attack. »

The report confirms that the heated exchange between the ambassadors of Pakistan and Israel took place on September 12, 2025 and has no connection with the current conflict between Israel and Iran.

Fact Check Status: Misleading

The claim that a viral video shows Pakistani Ambassador Asim Iftikhar attacking an Israeli envoy during a UN Security Council meeting is misleading.

The viral video is old, dating from September 2025, and has no relation to the current conflict in the Middle East.
