Meta-owned WhatsApp recently decided to roll out a new settings screen feature for Android users.
This feature, currently available to limited beta testers, will launch only on Android tablets.
In a report published by WABetaInfothe feature will allow users to use the phone as a primary device or connect it as a secondary device.
With this last setting, users, especially beta testers, could count on both companion mode and standalone mode.
Users can access a new interface when they open WhatsApp on their Android phone for the first time. The screen will display the “Choose an option” section which gives users two choices: the first is to link the phone to an existing account and the second is to allow users to transfer their account.

Considering the second option that allows users to set the tablet as the primary device, the question arises how to transfer WhatsApp account to Android tablet.
Meta’s popular messaging app will ask for the country code and phone number as soon as users tap the “Transfer your account” option.
After this process, the user will then receive a six-digit code to verify their identity and once the code is entered, the tablet will then become the primary device.
When it comes to chat history, users can restore their previous chats from Google Drive to the tablet.
However, the good news is that once Android is set up as the primary device, users can enjoy the same experience as other phone users. No functionality is restricted for the phone and the 14-day disconnect does not apply to a primary device.
