When could Supergirl be released on HBO Max?

Supergirl has finally hit theaters – and, if you’re wondering if you should see it, read my Supergirl review it first to see if it’s worth doing.

If you have already made your decision not Seeing the DC Universe (DCU) movie on the big screen, you may be wondering when it will be available to watch at home.

So when could the Milly Alcock-led superhero movie debut on streaming? Below I’ve shared my thoughts on its possible release date on HBO Max, so read on to see when it could be one of the best streaming services in the world.

Does Supergirl have a release date on HBO Max?

One of this year’s many new films only hit theaters around the world on June 26. It will therefore take some time before being released on the Warner Bros. streaming platform. Discovery (WBD).

That said, we can use some recent examples of WBD movies released on HBO Max to guess when they might join the service’s library.

To start, Supermanthe first DCU film Chapter One, was released on HBO Max on September 19, 2025. This means that it arrived on the platform exactly 70 days after its initial theatrical release on July 11, 2025.

If Supergirl follows in SupermanFollowing in the footsteps of, it would make its bow on HBO Max on September 4, 2026 – but how likely is that to happen?

Well, Warner Bros. movies. released this year And are now on HBO Max include Wuthering Heights, The Bride!And They will kill you. Oddly enough, this trio all launched on the service 77 days after their original theatrical release dates.

Should other films still launch on HBO Max, like Mortal Kombat II And The Mummy by Lee Croninalso arrive 77 days after their cinema debut, Supergirl can likewise follow this release pattern and be available to stream at home on September 11th. (Attention : The Mummy by Lee Cronin is now confirmed to debut on HBO Max on July 3, 77 days after its original release date).

However, given that the aforementioned date coincides with the September 11 attacks, aka one of the most tragic events in American history, I would be very surprised if the film formerly known as Supergirl: the woman of tomorrow comes out on this date. So my best guess is that Supergirl will bow out in streaming on September 4 or 18.

Supergirl is one of the shortest superhero films of all time. Indeed, lasting only one hour and 47 minutes, Kara Zor-El’s second independent film, which includes its end credits, is certainly more impactful.

However, for those of you with small bladders, this means you may only need to take one bathroom break during your screening, if you need one!
