- Familiar Faces sends detailed notifications that tell you exactly who’s calling
- It can store the names and faces of up to 50 people and is linked to your account.
- It is now rolling out to Ring Pro and Ring Pro Intelligence subscribers.
Ring has launched a new feature for your video doorbell and security cameras that will let you know exactly who’s calling at a glance. When enabled, Familiar Faces will send you notifications including the visitor’s name, so you won’t have to check the video footage yourself.
Familiar faces can identify up to 50 people, which Ring said is similar to the number of individuals the human brain can recognize.
Usefully, you can also choose not to receive notifications when your doorbell or camera spots a specific person. For example, you can choose not to be informed of your partner’s whereabouts, or if a gardener or window cleaner is working around your house. You can still receive an alert if your device detects other people in your list of familiar faces or a stranger.

Putting names to faces
Familiar Faces is now rolling out in the UK for those with a Ring Pro or Pro Intelligence subscription. The feature supports 2K and 4K cameras and doorbells, as well as some HD models.
You will receive a notification when Familiar Faces is available for your device, but you will need to enable it manually if you want to try it. Your familiar people directory is secure in your account and is encrypted for security reasons. You are in control and can add, edit and remove people from the list at any time.
