Will Ferrell is calling for help, asking Kim Kardashian for personal assistance in his ongoing quest to be crowned. PEOPLE the sexiest man in the world according to the magazine.
The 59-year-old actor, who stars in Netflix’s new golf comedy The falconreiterated his ardent desire to inherit the coveted title by addressing Variety at a recent red carpet event.
Ferrell’s renewed campaign follows his viral June photo shoot for Kardashian’s loungewear and lingerie brand, SKIMS, which saw the comedian strip down to his underwear.
Upon seeing the sultry promotional photos released to the public, Ferrell was full of praise for his own physique, joking, “If you’ve got it, flaunt it.”
Showing off his own near-nude snaps, he jokingly asked how PEOPLE could possibly ignore it, suggesting they skip a new photoshoot altogether and just use the SKIMS images for the cover.
Speaking directly to the camera, the Elf The star joked he was still trying to get the magazine crown, warning: “PEOPLEif you don’t give it to me this year, then we know the fix is there. Okay?”
The actor’s campaign is not a sudden whim, as he first said PEOPLE in 2024, he was “actively planting the seeds” to land the iconic cover, noting at the time that the publication rarely selected comedians.
When interviewer Marc Malkin suggested Ferrell should leverage his relationship with Kardashian, 45, to get her to “talk” PEOPLE on his behalf, Ferrell laughed and eagerly agreed, saying that would achieve exactly that.
The partnership between the two stars has grown in the run-up to his new series.
Ferrell recently launched an in-character Instagram account to promote The falconand Kardashian even joined him online for a collaborative tutorial on how to take the perfect selfie.
The SKIMS menswear campaign fully embraced this approach, featuring Ferrell dressed as his character, Lonnie. The falcon Hawkins, a washed-up golfer plotting an improbable career comeback, sporting a puka shell necklace, tank top and impossibly short briefs.
If Ferrell succeeds in his master plan with Kardashian’s support, he will succeed the current Sexiest Man Alive, The Bridgerton Chronicles star Jonathan Bailey, crowned last November.
For now, fans can see Ferrell’s character in full swing on screen, as The falcon officially premieres on Netflix today.
