Planes, trains, and automobiles, none of which were capable of getting the New York Liberty to Texas in time.
The Liberty were scheduled to face the Dallas Wings on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET, but the game was postponed. The WNBA said the game was postponed due to travel delays caused by mechanical problems with the Liberty’s charter flight.
The game is rescheduled for Monday, July 20, 2025, at 8 p.m. ET, and the WNBA said the Wings will honor all tickets purchased for the original game.

Liberty player Pauline Astier shared her frustrations about the plane on her Instagram story Wednesday evening.
“10 hours later, still on the tamarac,” she wrote, which translates to “10 hours later, still on the tarmac.”
According to the New York Post, the Liberty changed planes once before finally disembarking around 12:30 a.m. ET.

New York City experienced thunderstorms throughout the afternoon on Wednesday. Due to travel delays, the Liberty canceled their Thursday shootout.
The Liberty are fourth in the Eastern Conference at 13-11. However, they have struggled as of late, having lost seven of their last 10 games, including each of their last three.
With the schedule change due to plane problems, the Liberty will play three games in five days in three different cities. They face the Indiana Fever on the road on Saturday, the Wings on the road on Monday and the Chicago Sky back in New York on Wednesday.

The Wings are 16-8 this season and have won five in a row. The schedule change for them means they will play three games in four days.
The Wings will face the Los Angeles Sparks at home on Sunday before hosting the Liberty on Monday. They next travel to face the Portland Fire on Wednesday.
