X-Men 97 Season 2 Episode 4 has landed on Disney+ — and, once you pick your jaw up off the floor, I think you’ll be asking yourself two major questions about where things will go from here.
So, if you’re looking for answers after the latest chapter of the Marvel TV series, titled “Rise of Apocalypse: Part II”, I’m here to provide them to you. Or, at least, give my take on what happens next after the episode’s emotionally devastating final and end credits scene.
It goes without saying, but full spoilers immediately follow For X-Men 97 the final entry of season 2. Go back now if you haven’t watched it yet.
Does Magneto die in X-Men 97 Season 2 Episode 4?
In a word, yes. You don’t get an extremely powerful cannon shot to the chest – a shot that completely obliterates you, no less – from the immortal, super-mutant called Apocalypse and live to tell the tale.
That said, comic book character deaths are never permanent. Whether on the page, or in a film or television adaptation, super-powered beings are regularly brought back to life via time travel or multiverse shenanigans.
While Magneto certainly perished at the hands of Apocalypse in X-Men 97In the latest installment of , it is therefore incredibly unlikely that he is gone for good. He’s too popular and too important a character to kill off, especially in this Disney+ animated series, so I’ll be shocked if the metal-manipulating mutant named Erik Magnus Lehnsherr never returns.
Now who’s going to tell Rogue that she’s a second love in as many seasons…
Does X-Men 97 Season 2 Episode 4 have an end credits scene?
Yes – and it sets up the storyline that will see James “Logan” Howlett, aka Wolverine, get his adamantium skeleton back.
Remember, in Season 1, Episode 8 of this Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)-adjacent project, Wolverine had the indestructible metal ripped from his body by Magneto. And, although Logan survived this ordeal thanks to his self-healing ability, he has since had to resort to using his fragile claws to attack his enemies.
However, Logan won’t have to do that much longer. In a mid-credits scene, we see Wolverine meeting Captain America and Black Widow on a rooftop. After some brief discussions, Cap gives Logan a top secret file called “Weapon X”.
Longtime fans and/or those who have seen some of the X-Men films live-action – by the way, find out how to watch the X-Men films in order once you’re done here – will understand the importance of this.
However, for those unfamiliar with Weapon Wolverine, Deadpool, Sabretooth and X-23 are among his rare successes.
So, will Wolverine reacquire his adamantium skeleton in the next chapter of this Marvel Phase 6 TV series? It’s possible, especially since next week’s entry is titled “Weapon X, Lies and DVDs.” But – despite the spoilers for the comics – if X-Men 97 continues to authentically follow and adapt this specific storyline from its source material, this subplot might not be resolved until later in the season.
Do you think we’ll see Magneto again? And when will Wolverine get his adamantium skeleton back? Let me know in the comments!
