Army, FC and police continue joint action in Balochistan after attack on Mangi Dam police station
Security forces killed 17 more Indian-backed terrorists in an ongoing operation in Balochistan, taking the total number of terrorists killed in Operation Shaban to 43, security sources said on Friday.
The joint operation of Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC) and Balochistan Police was launched following the terrorist attack on Mangi Dam police station and is continuing with forces intensifying their actions against terrorists across the province.
On Tuesday, terrorists ambushed police personnel deployed in the Kach Mangi Phase III area of Ziarat, triggering an hours-long exchange of fire that left nine police officers dead, including two police station officers. The terrorists also kidnapped several civilians and police officers after the attack. The army then launched a series of counter-terrorism operations across Balochistan.
In a statement today, security sources said the ongoing operation had further tightened the cordon around the terrorists hiding in the rugged mountainous terrain of the region, adding that multiple ground and air operations were continuing.

The sources said an attack on a police station in Zehri area of Khuzdar earlier in the day was repulsed.
They said the prompt action of the Pakistan Army and FC troops resulted in the confirmed deaths of eight terrorists, while reports suggested that five to six others were killed during helicopter-borne operations.
The joint operation of Pakistan Army, Balochistan FC and police then continued with security forces targeting the terrorists hiding in the mountains using heavy weapons, the sources said.
During the last phase of the operation, four more terrorists were killed, while several others were reported injured, according to the sources.
According to sources, security forces had already killed 26 terrorists during operations carried out on July 6 and 7.
The sources added that since July 5, a total of 79 terrorists have been killed as part of Operation Shaban and other intelligence operations carried out in the region.
