- The Sopranos: The Complete Series is a limited edition 4K Blu-ray release
- 86 episodes on 28 discs including 2 bonus Blu-rays
- December 2026 (US), $149.99
One of the greatest television series of all time comes to 4K Blu-ray. The Sopranos: The Complete Series box set is available for pre-order in the United States and Canada, and will be released in late 2026.
It’s far from the first Sopranos box set: in addition to the DVD box set I have on the shelf, there was a Blu-ray box set in 2014, plus a 25th anniversary Blu-ray box set in 2024, which included The Many Saints of Newark Also. So this is the first time that everything is available in 4K.
This edition features a brand new, currently untitled featurette with Sopranos creator and writer David Chase. This featurette appears on one of two bonus discs that also include hours of additional material, including a two-part documentary, seven behind-the-scenes featurettes, and all bonus content previously released on the Blu-ray release of The Sopranos: Complete Series. And it all comes in hardcover, flat-pack book packaging.
For fans of the series, this feels like the ultimate version: the best, most pristine way to see one of the most influential TV shows of all time.
Why The Sopranos in 4K is a must-see mafia drama
The Sopranos tells the story of depressed mob boss Tony Soprano, who goes to therapy in secret because he knows that if his “weakness” is revealed, he’s a dead man walking. It’s as much about family as it is mafia families, and it features stellar performances throughout.
During its run, the series garnered several well-deserved awards, including 111 Primetime Emmy nominations and 21 wins, 5 Golden Globe Awards and Emmys for actors James Gandolfini, Edie Falco, Michael Imperioli, Drea de Matteo and Joe Pantoliano.
I’m not being hyperbolic when I tell you this The Sopranos began a golden age for television series. Without The Sopranosthere would not be Break the bad, Mad Men or one of the other premium shows we love so much.
This played a crucial role in changing the view that television was inferior to cinema and that our relatable protagonists couldn’t be horrible people. And it was really, really, really good: the writing, the performances, and the cinematography were all superb.
Although much of the praise for The Sopranos focuses on the casting, and rightly so, the work of cinematographer Alik Sakharov was also crucial. Cinematography was revolutionary in the way it contributed to history, and there is a fascinating article about it at No Film School. And if that’s the kind of thing you’re interested in, then this new 4K box set is for you.
The Sopranos 4K Blu-ray box set has a release date of December 8, 2026 in the United States and a suggested price of $149.99.
