The day before, Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam also visited Prime Minister Shehbaz and discussed the current regional situation following the extension of the ceasefire between the United States and Iran.

Pakistan took center stage when it brokered a 14-day ceasefire between the United States and Iran, followed by high-stakes talks in Islamabad attended by high-level delegations from both countries earlier this month.

Although the talks did not yield the expected results, the ceasefire remained intact and confidence-building measures were taken to ensure a permanent truce. Trump had also credited Beijing with helping Iran gain access to the first round of negotiations with the United States in Pakistan.

China also presented a four-point peace plan that calls for maintaining peaceful coexistence, national sovereignty, the international rule of law and balancing development and security.
