- A Boot Loop Pixel Bug Is Apparently Close to Being Fixed
- Google has a beta update in the works to fix the problem
- Meanwhile, more and more complaints are coming in about a different problem.
There’s good news and bad news to report in terms of Google Pixel phone bugs, with one frustrating issue attracting much-deserved attention from Google engineers, while another problem is apparently just getting started.
The good news first: Google is testing a fix for the bug that left some handsets stuck in a boot loop cycle in recent weeks, a problem that seemed to start plaguing users right after the March 2026 Pixel Drop.
According to numerous reports, several Pixel models failed to boot properly, but simply restarted over and over again. The only real option to escape the cycle was to do a complete reset and start again, which is not ideal.

Now, a user has released an update (via Android Authority) that is “definitely positive news,” claiming that there is a “potential beta update to fix the issue” that will bring back the phone’s functionality without a full reset. It’s not widely available yet, but it might be soon, and that suggests Google has figured out what’s wrong.
Other problems appear
Just as there is light at the end of the tunnel for one bug, another causes user frustration. As Android Authority reports, there are now a significant number of complaints about slow and sluggish performance on Pixel phones, which appear to be related to the March and April updates.
Although the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 handsets appear to be the most commonly affected, several different models are mentioned in news reports, starting with the Google Pixel 6 launching in 2021.
Complaints mention “really bad lag” and keyboards that freeze when typing. So far we haven’t heard anything official from Google other than a request for more information, and there doesn’t seem to be a reliable solution yet (besides a complete reset).
Having issues like these pop up persistently isn’t a good idea for Google, and they’re also issues we’ve seen with Pixel phones before. Hopefully the latest issue can be resolved quickly and the Pixels can then remain bug-free.
