The legend of the MLB, Pedro Martinez, revealed Tuesday evening that he had family members who are still buried in the rubble after a roof collapsed in a nightclub in the Dominican Republic.
The former Boston Red Sox star spoke of the tragedy that left more than 120 dead and hundreds more injured in Santo Domingo.

“I always have family members who are still in the rubble, and we don’t know what has happened to them, but we just want to be strong, as we have always been,” he said in a video published on his Instagram.
Martinez expressed her condolences to those who have lost dear beings and who always try to find those who are missing.
“With a heavy heart, I send condolences to all the members of our family and to the people of the United States who have a family in the Dominican Republic,” he added in an article on X.
“We are sad and affected by tragedy. Our hearts are with you. We are a country that prays a lot and remains united all the time.”

The Jet Set nightclub was filled on Monday evening on Tuesday morning when she organized one of her weekly festivals. The former players of the MLB Octavio Dotel and Tony Blanco were among the dead when the entire roof collapsed while the revelers danced to a merengue concert.
Nelsy Cruz, governor of the north-west province of Montecristi and sister of the former All-Star Mlb Nelson Cruz, called the President of the Dominican Republic Luis Abinader while he was trapped in the rubble. She died later in the hospital. The other victims included singer Rubby Perez, the saxophonist Luis Solis, the fashion designer Martin Polanco and several others.
Officials took stock at 124.
The authorities have asked for calm because those who expect information on their relatives are increasingly worried.

“Major League Baseball is deeply saddened by the passages of Octavio Dotel, Tony Blanco, Nelsy Cruz and all the victims of the tragedy last night in Santo Domingo,” he said. “We send our sincere condolences to the families and friends of all those who have been affected and to our colleague Nelson and to the whole family,” said MLB commissioner Rob Manfred, in a statement.
“The link between baseball and the Dominican Republic is deep, and we think of all Dominican players and fans through the game today.”
