- The new model is an evolution of Instax Mini 40 of 2022, adding new features
- The design steps updated far from the full retro for a more modern look
- Available from April 17 for £ 94.99 in the United Kingdom, with an American price TBC
Fujifilm launched the latest model in its range of instant instain cameras. The Instax Mini 41 is a successor to the Instax Mini 40 published by 2022, with a similar price, shape and size – but Fujifilm has provided a number of notable improvements on this new addition to the series which makes it a very tempting purchase in the summer period.
The first improvement concerns style and global aesthetics. This is subjective, I know, but I find that the elegant modern looks of the mini 41 are much more interesting than the strictly retro design of the mini 40. There are vintage cameras in the proportions and colors of the mini 41, but the gray Gunmetal finish, the curved body, the material of the finely textured handle and the orange feel fresh and fully contemporary.
Despite the appearance, the body is in light plastic. It has only 12.2 OZ / 345 g of weight (without batteries or film) and 104.5 x 122.5 x 67.5 mm, which makes it ideal for making a day excursions and evenings.
The end of the stretching points?
Other improvements may be more interesting for photography fans, as they should cause better quality shots compared to the mini 40. First and foremost, the new automatic exposure function of Instax Mini 41 optimizes the shutter speed and the flash output to compensate for the ambient light. I have often found that the cheaper instax cameras like this tend to underestimate or overexpose the images, with the flash which often blows strengths in the close-ups. This should solve this problem.
And speaking of close -ups, the other major improvement is the correction of the parallax, which helps the central subjects drawn near the objective – a position where to center them in the viewfinder would generally cause a photo outside the center.
Thus, with better design and better photos that are easier to compose, the mini 41 looks like a large brilliant on its predecessor, and everything for the reasonably low price of £ 94.99 in the United Kingdom. An American prize has not yet been announced, perhaps due to Fujifilm’s assessment with the current prices with American prices before engaging in a price. A protection case is also available for £ 20.99.
You will of course need to buy an instax mini movie to use with the camera. These are available in a variety of types, including monochrome and with different frame styles, and cost around $ 16 / £ 14.99 for a pack of 20 exhibitions.
