MMA fighters prepare for UFC Freedom 250

UFC great Jim Miller made an emotional return to the Octagon on Saturday night where he was able to score a submission victory over Jared Gordon.
Miller’s son, Wyatt, was diagnosed with a rare soft tissue cancer, known as rhabdomyosarcoma, last year, according to the New York Post. He hadn’t fought in the UFC in over a year as he stood alongside his 14-year-old son during the fight. Wyatt recovered and Miller paid tribute to him after the victory.

“My son has been through some really tough times over the last couple of months,” he said at UFC 328, which took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. “He eventually got rid of the cancer, and he’s doing well today.
“We’re cancer-free. And one of the things I told him when he was faced with this issue when he was first diagnosed is that the Millers have been called many names over the years, but fragility has never been one of them.”

Miller won the fight in front of his home country’s fans. Miller was born in Sparta, sitting on the shores of Lake Mohawk and about 40 miles from where UFC 328 took place.
The lightweight fight ended in the first round when Miller put Gordon in a guillotine choke. Gordon attempted a takedown after Miller attempted to kick him. However, Gordon kept his head down, allowing Miller to wrap his arms around his opponent to choke him.
Miller has 28 wins in the UFC – the most of any competitor in company history.

Gordon now has back-to-back losses for the first time since losing to Carlos Diego Ferreira at UFC Fight Night in February 2018 and losing to Joaquim Silva at UFC on FOX in December 2018.
