Lisa Kudrow spoke about her time in Friends and said the writers’ room could come across as very harsh, calling some behavior “mean.”
The 62-year-old actress, who played the iconic role of Phoebe Buffay in the famous series, said the actors had a close bond but the atmosphere behind the scenes was often intense.
Lisa shared that the show was filmed in front of an audience of 400 people, which added a lot of pressure.
The star then recalled those times when things went wrong and said the writers would react strongly, saying: “Can’t you fucking read? She’s not even trying. She fucked up my line.”
Lisa also said that the writers’ room had between 12 and 15 people and was mostly made up of men.
Lisa also spoke about previous claims made by former assistant Amaani Lyle, who said she overheard inappropriate conversations in the writers’ room.
Lisa said: “And we know in the room the guys were staying up late discussing their sexual fantasies about Jennifer and Courteney. It was intense.”
Despite all this, she said she tries not to bring any stress home.
Lisa said: “Of course, and all because I got married early and outside of work. No one was interested. There was no story.”
