The right platform of the Indianapolis colts, Braden Smith, fought against more than opposite rush rushers last season.
Smith, 29, was fighting a war in his head and missed the last five games of the Colts season. It was placed on the list of reserve / non-football diseases.
Smith was finally diagnosed with religious scanning by a psychiatrist. Religious scrupulation is a form of OCD which is characterized as obsessive thoughts and compulsions focused on religious themes, such as sin, God and religious practices of the person.

“There is the real, true, true and alive God,” Smith told Indy Star. “And then there is my God toc, and the god OCD is this condemnation (divinity). It is like every bad decision you make, it is like hitting the rule against his hand.” Another bad decision like that, and you came out from here. “”
“I was physically present, but I should not be found, I did not care to play football. I did not care to spend time with my family, with my wife, with my newborn son. … I felt (I felt) for a month to put a ball in my brain.”
When Smith had a bad thought, he immediately responded with a compulsive prayer or an internal declaration of devotion.

Smith took medication and participated in daily therapy sessions, but they only had temporary relief.
Just before Thanksgiving, Smith’s wife, Courtney, gave her the choice.
He could either continue with drugs and daily therapy sessions, or move away from football and check in an intensive mental health establishment to solve the problem.
Smith knew it was time to move away.

Smith then registered in an installation of Colorado, planning to stay four weeks.
Instead, he was there for 48 days, but not much progress was made.
“It’s a very desperate feeling,” said Smith. “And it is in a way where ibogaine comes into play. It was like the last effort for me.”
Ibogaine is an indole psychoactive alkaloid known for its psychedelic effects and is illegal in the United States.

“Ibogaine, he legitimately resets your brain,” Smith told the newspaper. “Imagine your brain like a ski slope, and you create all these grooves, from all these trails you continue, and they continue to become deeper and deeper. These are the habits that we create, and over time, as, it will not be possible to create receptors in your brain.”
During his trip to Mexico to try ibogaine, Smith took another psychedelic who gave positive results. He took the synthetic version of 5-MEO-DMT, which is a natural psychedelic produced in plants and seen in certain toads.
After taking 5-meo-dmt, Smith felt that he was back with the true God and was intimately with him. It seemed that the demons were exorcised, and he no longer felt indebted to the God.
“I still have the TOC, but he has no catch on me,” said Smith. “It doesn’t dictate my life.”

The colts are looking forward to bringing Smith back into the fold on the playing field.
“Bring Braden Smith back, and he is in an ideal place,” said the director general of the colts, Chris Ballard, via the star of the Indy. “I think people forget how good Braden is.”
Smith spent his entire seven -year career with the colts after taking it with their second round choice in the 2018 NFL draft in Auburn.
