Pakistan and China have jointly convened an Arria Formula meeting of the UN Security Council to review how the world body can ensure full, effective and non-selective implementation of its resolutions, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
An Arria Formula meeting is an informal format of the United Nations Security Council that allows members to hold candid discussions with UN officials, experts and stakeholders on issues affecting international peace and security.
Addressing the meeting, Pakistan Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said UN Security Council resolutions were legal obligations under the UN Charter rather than mere expressions of intent.
