Prince Michael of Kent hosted submariners for a state dinner in London on Friday to recognize the growing contribution of reservists to frontline submarine operations.
The gathering took place at the historic naval and military club known as the ‘In and Out Club’, where members of the Royal Navy Reserve’s Submarine Operations Specialization joined senior naval officers for a special reception and dinner.
As Commodore-in-Chief of the Marine Reserves, Prince Michael met with staff from the Undersea Reserves community and was briefed on recent achievements.
The event demonstrates how modern training pathways enable Reservists to access demanding operational environments.
One of the key examples discussed was the deployment of the Operation Highmast Carrier Strike Group last year, during which a Submarine Operations Reservist served aboard HMS Prince of Wales as part of the Submarine Advisory Team.
Their role supported the coordination of undersea warfare, ensuring smooth integration between surface and undersea operations upon the return of the Pacific task group.
