- Resident Evil Véronique reaches one million wishlists on PS5 and Steam on PC in less than a week
- He reached this milestone faster than Resident Evil Requiem made after his revelation
- Capcom recently stated SpeedwellThe importance of, effectively as a main entry in the Resident Evil franchise
Capcom is arguably in its best shape in decades, especially when it comes to its beloved survival horror. resident Evil franchise, with several successful entries launching in recent years – and it looks like the next remake could join the party.
Announced on X, the next Capcom Resident Evil Véronique received a million wishlists on PS5 and PC (the only two platforms currently available for wishlists), just under a week after the Summer Game Fest reveal. It reached the high number of wishlists faster than Resident Evil Requiem did it, which took two weeks.
If the name Resident Evil Véronique sounds familiar, that’s because it’s Capcom’s remake of Resident Evil Code: Véroniquethe original which dates back to 2000. It is one of the remakes, if not the most requested, of resident Evil fans, and those wishes have now been granted.
Instead of starring fan favorite Leon S. Kennedy, Capcom takes us back to 1998 and we’ll follow Claire Redfield instead, three months after the film. Resident Evil 2 And Resident Evil 3 remakes.
Capcom says it removed the “Code” from the remake’s name, in an effort to align the title closer to recent titles (e.g. Resident Evil Village And Resident Evil Requiem), and frankly, while Speedwell is not a numbered title, it is still considered just as important as a single one, effectively acting as a main entry in the franchise.
There’s a lot to be excited about what this remake will have to offer, especially since it won’t just be a graphical upgrade, but will instead feature major changes to gameplay and storytelling – and unsurprisingly, the wishlists are a strong indication of fan intrigue over what those changes will be, as evidenced by Reddit.
The same development team responsible for Resident Evil 2 And Resident Evil 4 the remakes will be in charge for Speedwelland if the success of these entries is anything to go by, we are in for a treat.
