“75 percent of the Olympians competing for Team USA played as college athletes. If we don’t get this straight, we’re not going to have a great Olympic team because there are so many of these sports, especially some sports where it’s like the minor leagues, you can call it the major leagues, you can call it whatever you want, but we’re developing incredible athletes so they can compete in it and win the gold medal,” Trump said Tuesday.

“Without college sports, without your ability to get into college sports and compete and really learn how to play and get better, we won’t really have an Olympic team anymore.”

Trump made the comments while honoring NCAA champion Youngstown State Bowling, Oklahoma State men’s golf, Texas A&M women’s volleyball, Wake Forest men’s tennis, Georgia women’s tennis, West Virginia co-ed rifle and Florida State women’s soccer teams.

Trump even made a rare admission of a skill he’s not so good at during the White House ceremony.

Trump, while honoring Youngstown’s state bowling champions, admitted he was not a great bowler.

“It’s not easy bowling, I’ve tried it, it doesn’t work very well for me. It’s very difficult, actually. It’s very difficult,” Trump said.

The ceremony highlighted the non-profit college sports that Trump seeks to preserve through his recent executive order, titled: “Urgent National Action to Save College Sports.”

Trump has taken executive action to require that revenue sharing models implemented by universities preserve or expand scholarships and opportunities for women and students. Olympic sportsdating back to last year with a similar decree.

The ceremony took place the same afternoon that Trump extended the ongoing ceasefire with Iran.

“Based on the fact that the Iranian government is seriously fractured, which is not surprising, and, at the request of Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan, we have been asked to maintain our attack on Iran until their leaders and representatives can present a unified proposal,” Trump said in a message shared on Truth Social.

“I have therefore ordered our military to continue the blockade and, in all other respects, to remain ready and able, and I will therefore extend the ceasefire until their proposal is submitted and the discussions are concluded, one way or another.”
