A 15-year-old women’s singles competitor at Wimbledon learned quite the lesson during Monday’s match.
Tantrums will not be tolerated.
Ida Wobker of Germany was disqualified from the Wimbledon junior tournament after throwing her racket to the ground, which bounced into the stands. The decision was confirmed by the All England Club on Sunday.

The incident occurred during the second set of Wobker’s first-round match with his opponent on Saturday.

Maria Valentina Pop of Romania had dominated the first set, 6-0, and with things deadlocked in the second set at 5-5, Wobker fired a backhand shot out of bounds.
Showing clear frustration at the mistake, Wobker threw her racket and, although she may not have intended to, it flew into the stands. It’s unclear if it hit any spectators, but there was a group in the lower levels where the racket landed.
Wobker was quick to apologize for his serious mistake, but the officials stopped the match and deliberated on the punishment.

Ultimately, Wobker was issued a code violation for her behavior on grass, and Pop was rewarded with an automatic bid to the next round of the junior girls’ singles tournament. She would later lose to Daniella Britton in this second round match.
Wobker addressed the incident on his Instagram Stories on Saturday evening, writing that “S— happens, you learn from it!,” according to The Sun.
The International Tennis Federation’s rules clearly state what to do when a racket is thrown Wobker-style, stipulating that a player “shall not violently or angrily hit, kick, or throw a racket” during a tournament.
The authorities intervened and, as Wobker said, she will learn from the situation.

It wasn’t her best effort on the court before the frustrating moment, committing 11 double faults on serves and 44 unforced errors.
But, at just 15 years old, Wobker is ranked 24th in the International Tennis Federation’s junior world rankings, meaning she still has plenty of career left to channel her frustration onto the court.
