A former Meta Executive recently spoke before the American Congress, accusing Facebook and his CEO of having allegedly proposed sensitive data on American citizens to the Chinese government, in exchange for being authorized to operate in the country.
As indicated by The registerSarah Wynn-Williams, former director of Facebook’s public policy, spoke before the Senate’s Judicial Committee’s Sub-Comeding on Crime and Counter-Terrorism this week.
During the hearing, she alleged that for her former employer, there was “no bridge too far” to enter the Chinese market, and that he would do everything to have access to 1.4 billion people who live there, in particular by offering data on the Americans to the Chinese Communist Party.

“The only reason why China does not currently have access to data from American users via this pipeline is that Congress has intervened,” she was quoted.
